Please join us for a guided tour of the museum’s Victorian Village gardens on Thursday, July 20.
Visitors will walk and tour vegetable gardens, “carpet” bedding gardens, a “Grandmother’s Garden, a Moonlight Garden (white flower) a Blue Garden, and a front-yard garden. The guided tour is approximately 1 hour. During the tour, learn about each garden and how these relate to the type of architecture nearby. Also, learn how gardening grew so rapidly in popularity during the Victorian Era (1830-1900) and how difficult it is today to find heirloom Victorian plants. The tour ends highlighting the museum’s ideas for future growth of the Heritage Garden program.
RSVP in-advance with payment by Monday, July 17 by calling the Front Desk, 815-397-9112. Visitors should meet in front of the Old Dolls House, far southside of the parking lot adjacent to the Main Museum Center. When making the reservation, please let us know which tour you are attending. You can choose the 10 am, 2 pm or 6 pm.
Cost: $7 adults; $5 children (ages 3-17). Not recommended for children under age 3 (ages 0-2). Museum Member are Free.
